|Gulf Shores and Orange Beach tourism upgrade websites for better service|
February 13, 2014 Gulf Shores (GSA) and Orange Beach, AL (OBA) – For guests visiting Gulf Shores.com or Orange Beach.com, they see a whole different state of destination information thanks to the launch of the convention and visitors bureau’s redesigned website, which was unveiled in early January and features the “it’s a whole different state” branding.
“As we continue to integrate our new branding that was designed to speak to the transformative nature of a beach getaway on our white-sand shores, it was crucial that the redesign of the website serves as an online beacon for our brand,” Joanie Flynn (pictured right), vice president of marketing for Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism (GSOBT) said. “Graphically, the site features a classic beach-focused color palette, our newly tweaked logo and expansive imagery.”
A year-long, multi-agency collaboration between GSOBT, Aristotle, Inc., Global Marketing Solutions, Software Management, Inc. and BrainSpur went into the design, social and blogging components and database queries to deliver the final product.
“It was definitely a team effort to ensure all the vacation planning information we have available was delivered in a clean, easy-to-digest format no matter the device,” said Shelley Piraino, Internet marketing manager at GSOBT, who was tasked with overseeing this redesign.
“Responsive design is great because it eliminates the need to create multiple sites for all the different devices,” Piraino said. “Our visitors will all have access to the same information whether they are using their smartphone, an iPad or tablet, laptop or desktop computers, and with our content management system, we are more efficient in that we only have one website to update.”
New website features were created with the visitor in mind. They can quickly find nearby restaurants, attractions, events or lodging depending on where they find themselves within the website in addition to seeing helpful maps in industry partner listings. The calendar of events is enabled for visitors to add an event directly to their personal Outlook or Google calendars.
Blogs and news releases were added to relevant pages to provide even more information about what our destination has to offer. The addition of monthly e-Tidings newsletter subscription and vacation guide request icons to every top-level page makes it easier for guests to sign up. Interacting via chat or social media is easier thanks to these options appearing in the footer of each website page.
