|Sharky's Adventures coming to The Wharf on March 1|
February 6, 2014 - Orange Beach, AL (OBA) – A new attraction will be available for families at The Wharf in Sharky’s Family Adventure Park, opening March 1.
The new venue will feature two Sky Trail ropes courses; two Sky Rails connecting the courses; a Sky Tykes rope course, and 18 holes of mini-golf. Sharky’s is designed to entertain guests ages 2 and up with a little something for everyone.
The attraction is based on a character name Sharky, a fisherman who came to OrangeBeach shortly after the hurricane. He fell in love with the area and decided it was the place to stay. The attraction shares some of the “unique” adventures Sharky has experienced with guests who can create their own adventures on the high ropes courses and mini-golf course.
Sky Trail is a high ropes, adventure course which consists of horizontally strung cables, ropes, boards and other materials secured between steel supports to form elements or activities. Each participant is outfitted with a full-body harness and a safety lanyard or sling line.
The sling line is inserted into an overhead tracking system, which prevents participants from disconnecting their sling line from the course at any time. This unique system also allows participants to choose their path through the course while going at their own pace and the ability to pass other participants at each platform.
Sky Rail is much the same, allowing participants to traverse between courses on a rigid track while still safely connected into the overhead tracking system.
Sky Tykes is a scaled version of the full-size courses. It is specifically designed for participants ages 2-7 (or less than 48” tall) with pass through elements so that a guardian can easily help little ones navigate the course and build confidence.
The mini-golf course will include 18 holes to challenge your putting prowess with a little insight at each tee of what Sharky has encountered on his adventures. The front nine holes are ADA accessible, with every hole designed to delight and amuse.
Starting March 1, hours of operation will be 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, weather permitting.
