|Gulf Shores hosts Halloween Family Fun Night on Oct. 26|
October 18, 2013, Gulf Shores, Ala (GSA) – The City of Gulf Shores will host Halloween Family Fun Night at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The annual event has seen an overwhelming amount of growth in recent years which has prompted planners to move the event from its typical home at the Bodenhamer Recreation Center into the 5,400 square foot Erie H. Meyer Civic Center.
“We made several adjustments over the past couple of years to help accommodate the number of families that enjoy this event, but we were literally running out of room,” Programs and Events Manager, Brigette Reynolds said. “After last year, we knew we needed to expand and the Civic Center is the perfect place for us to do so.”
With much needed event space now available, organizers expect this year’s event to be the largest yet. Activities on tap for the night include fireside stories, costume contests, an assortment of carnival games, a cake walk, and a dunking booth.
While this list of tried and true activities is sure to keep families entertained all night, there is a new addition this year that has locals buzzing with anticipation. James Rosier from A Nested Reality: Paranormal Adventures will be on hand to take thrill seekers on real life paranormal investigations inside the Thomas B. Norton Public Library.
According to Reynolds, Rosier won’t just be simply going through the motions.
“Over the summer James came down and conducted a test investigation inside the library,” Reynolds said. “Let’s just say we weren’t the only one’s there that night.”
Admission for the event is free for all ages. Tickets to participate in activities and to purchase concessions will be available at .50 cents each.
“We encourage everyone to put on their best costumes and join us for this great, family-friendly event,” Reynolds said. “The entire night will be suitable for all ages with a little bit of fright mixed in with a lot of fun.”
