|Perdido Key Oktoberfest brings German food, beer, live music|
September 29, 2013, Orange Beach, AL (OBA) - Dazzling white sand, tasty bratwurst and fun events all at the same time. Oktoberfest on Florida’s Perdido Key means two days of German food, music and beer, a costume contest and lots more entertainment.
The family-friendly event includes a root beer garden and numerous children’s activities. And those who book a three-night stay can earn up to $200 in free American Express gift cards just for visiting.
Oktoberfest, sponsored by Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, will be at the iconic beach bar Flora-Bama from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 5 and Oct. 6. Admission both days is free until 6 p.m. Then, admission will be $5 for those 21 or older, $15 for those ages 18-20.
The musical lineup includes two well-known bands with very different styles, including the group Oom-Pah-Sters playing traditional polka. This group has performed across the nation, offering not only polka classics but comedic antics and traditional stage outfits. The Brats will take the stage to play “progressive polka” each afternoon. Based in New Orleans, The Brats play both traditional polka as well as polka versions of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”
