|Deadline to register for art, photography classes at Orange Beach art center is Friday|
September 17, 2013, Orange Beach, AL (OBA) - Jane and Gene Sellier will each be teaching classes at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach beginning Sept. 25. Each class begins Wednesday, Sept. 25, and ends Wednesday, Oct. 30. Class time is from 9 a.m.–noon.
The long-married creative Sellier duo each has different specialties, which will be highlighted in their classes. Gene will be teaching Digital Photography; Jane will teach her popular “Painting Potpourri.”
Gene’s lifelong interest in photography took him from president of the photography club in high school to manager of the largest camera store in St. Louis. From pressing the shutter release to printing the picture, his six-week digital photography class will cover the gamut of digital photography creativity.
The class will review types of digital cameras, accessories, composition, lighting and different photography themes. Students will discover how to use those dials, wheels, buttons, and menu choices, as well as how to edit images with photo editing software packages. Students should bring camera and manual to class.
Jane Sellier taught kindergarten and first grade for many years. Her passion for art led her to trade one teaching career for another in “retirement.” Jane’s Painting Potpourri class is an opportunity to try several different mediums – without having to invest in supplies – before deciding which ones to pursue.
The class is an introduction to watercolors, soft pastels and acrylics as painting mediums and requires no previous art experience. The only requirement is the desire to learn about the process of painting by following step-by-step instructions. All supplies are furnished so all students have to do is show up and be prepared for an interesting six weeks learning experience.
The tuition fee for Gene’s Digital Photography class is $85. Jane’s Painting Potpourri tuition is $80, with a $12 supplies fee.
Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 20. To register, or for more information, please contact the Arts Center at 251-981-2787, or send email to email@example.com.
