|Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Orange Beach on March 8|
February 27, 2013, Orange Beach, Ala. (OBA)- The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will bring its world-class performance to Alabama's Gulf Coast as part of the Orange Beach Festival of Art.
The world-renown band from New Orleans will take to the stage at a special concert and dinner on Friday, March 8 at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf, 4671 Wharf Parkway in Orange Beach.
With roots in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, the Preservation Hall Jazz band, founded in 1961, has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Under the auspices of current director, Ben Jaffe, son of founders Allan and Sandra Jaffe, the band performs with a deep reverence and consciousness of its greatest attributes in the modern day as a venue, band, and record label.
Local awareness of the band was heightened last year when the group performed as part of the 2012 Hangout Festival here on the Gulf Coast. And just recently, they performed to a worldwide audience on the telecast of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards with Dr. John and the Black Keys.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be catered by Cosmos.
