“Friends of the Library in Orange Beach has a fun filled 2013 planned” according to Larry Ramirez, President of the Friends of the Library. These plans are kicked off with the annual Book Sale and Bake Sale scheduled for Jan. 11-12 at Orange Beach Community Center from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. . The Sale will be at the Orange Beach Community Center, 27235 Canal Road, located 1 mile east of the Library on Canal Road. “Members only” Preview Night” is Thursday evening Jan. 10 from 6-8 p.m. This preview event, exclusively for Lifetime and 2013 members of the Friends of the Orange Beach Library, allows members early access to our great book values while enjoying Wine, Hors de Oeuvres, and live music. . Linda Tucker, Book Sale Chairperson, is excited about the books that are available at this years’ event. . “The Bake Sale is always a baked goods connoisseur’s delight and an opportunity for members to show off their baking talents” according to Jeanne Clark, bake sale Chairperson. The Bricks for Books program chaired by Nancy Rempe is an ongoing fundraiser that provides a terrific way to honor a person or organization and beautify the Library’s terrace. Drop by the Library for more information on the Bricks for Books program. . In 2012 the Friends of the Orange Beach Library helped decorate, hosted open houses, held a major book sale and several mini-sales funded the children’s summer program, poetry contest and added bricks to the terrace. The Library is able to enhance their excellent service and programs with assistance from the Friends of the Orange Beach Library.
