The NAIA will crown five championship teams in Coastal Alabama during the 2013-14 academic year. The latest championship to join the local lineup is outdoor track and field, in which the NAIA will crown its men’s and women’s champs at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores in 2014 and 2015.

Vincent “Tripp” Keber pleaded guilty last month to a misdemeanor marijuana possession in Baldwin county. Keber has made a deal after pleading guilty that allows the charges to be forgiven if he stays out of trouble for two years, per the Denver Post.

6 year old Laylah Willett struggles to talk about her 3 hour ordeal. She lost her voice after being stuck at the bottom of a 30 foot hole Thursday while on a class trip to a farm in Lucedale. Today, she’s back in Baldwin County.

An Alabama Gulf coast development on state park land announced in May has met some unexpected resistance.
As a result of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in April 2010, which hit at the height of spring migration and just before the summer beach season, states on the Gulf of Mexico lost a fortune in environmental resources and tourist dollars. BP eventually agreed to repay around $1 billion to the affected states. Now states have to decide the best way to put the money to work.

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) – Local charter boat captains and recreational fisherman alike are lamenting over a newly shortened red snapper season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently approved a uniform 28-day season, meaning six fewer days for Alabama and Mississippi.
