FOLEY — Alleviating traffic along Alabama Highway 59 was the top priority for discussion for South Baldwin civic leaders Thursday afternoon. In Foley, Mayor John Koniar pointed to several ideas to make that happen.
FOLEY — The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce’s second Leadership Lunch of 2013 is scheduled for next week.
The catered lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Foley Civic Center. Tickets purchased by Friday are $12 per person. After that, they are $15 per person. However, none will be sold at the door.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Alabama — Baldwin County was awarded $15.1 million by the state today for five road projects as part of a federal aid program dubbed the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program, or ATRIP.
The largest projects include $18.7 million in Tuscaloosa to extend Fifth Avenue to Hackberry Lane at the University of Alabama campus and $16.6 million in Foley to extend Pride Drive from Alabama Highway 59 to County Road 20.

(MOBILE, Ala.) – With a growing reputation for traffic backups and accidents, there’s some concern the Wallace Tunnel could start steering away Mississippi and Louisiana beachgoers from Alabama’s beaches.
MOBILE, Alabama — The Bankhead Tunnel will close for 11 days of maintenance work starting at 9 p.m. Friday, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced.
The planned reopening time for the tunnel is 5 a.m. Oct. 1, ALDOT said.

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Mark Acreman has list of projects in his mind he’d like to see completed to add improvements to the city’s infrastructure.
When the public works director got ready to apply for a grant to apply toward completion of one of those projects, he said the first choice was an easy one.
