Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) — A platform owned by Mariner Energy Inc. in the Gulf of Mexico, 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, was struck by an explosion, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel said in a telephone interview.
The oil and gas production platform is owned and operated by Mariner, said Blaine Dinger, director of environmental safety for the company. He declined to comment further.
