September 29, 2009 - Orange Beach, AL (OBA) - Summer is
over and the crowds have cleared the beaches. Nobody told the fish.
Fall fishing in the northern Gulf of Mexico is just as good as summer
fishing, but the cooler temperatures making their way south and
the lack of the large summer crowds makes fall fishing very enjoyable. And now, fall fishing is more affordable than ever. Zeke's Marina,
Brett-Robinson and three local restaurants have put
together a discount two-day fishing package that anglers will find
irresistible.
Rookie II Charters at Zeke's Marina
Between now and December 31st, those who love to fish can visit Orange
Beach for 3-days and two-nights, stay in a two or three bedroom
Brett-Robinson condominium on the beach, and fish offshore and/or
inshore for two days for only $360 per person. The vacation
package also includes two lunches and two dinners at either Geno's Fresh Catch Grill, Wolf Bay
Lodge and/or the Shrimp Basket. Package participants also receive a
continental breakfast at Zeke's docks. The $360 price tag is about
half the cost of the same trip just one month ago. Anglers can
choose from two offshore fishing trips, two inshore fishing trips, or a
combo of one offshore and one inshore fishing trips. "This is a
great package for anglers who would like to experience the diversity of
backbay, inshore, and offshore fishing that's available in our
area", says Tom Steber of Zeke's Marina. Fall is when Pompano start moving closer to the northern shore. King Mackerel are still abundant and Capt. Chip Day of Chippers
Clipper Charters says they are catching more Mahi and Wahoo now than
they were in the
height of the summer. Steber says, "We have seen
more King Mackerel this year than we have ever seen." Capt. Don McPherson of Getaway Charters says this is the time of year to
go billfishing. "White Marlin are as close to shore right now as
they're ever going to get and they can be easily reached on a day trip",
says Capt. Don. A White Marlin was hooked less than a quarter mile
from shore recently.
