Gulf State Park Pier to Officially
Open July 23, 2009 @ 9:00am
June 30, 2009 - Gulf Shores / Orange Beach, AL (OBA) -
Thousands of anglers from around the southeast have been anxiously
awaiting the reopening of the Alabama Gulf State Park Fishing Pier,
destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. It's finally here -
the new pier will open July
23rd at 9:00am and it's better than ever. Alabama State Officials will be on-hand for
the grand opening.
The Alabama Gulf State Park Pier will be even more popular than
before since it has just been announced that the Gulf Breeze pier, also
destroyed by Ivan, will not be rebuilt.

The new pier will be 1,512 feet long, the longest on the Gulf Coast, and
20 feet wide. It will extend about 200 to 300 feet
beyond the sandbar, making it easier to get to bigger fish.
