You Never Know What You're Gonna Catch in the Gulf of Mexico
June 5, 2009 - Orange Beach, AL (OBA) - Kelley Ouzts has been
fishing with Capt. Allen (Rookie) Kruse of
Rookie Charters
for 17 years. They make two or three fishing trips together each
year. This past Saturday, they were on a 12 hour trip about 50
miles south of Orange Beach looking for Snowy amberjack, triggerfish and
gag grouper. Kelley was fishing with one of Rookie's favorite baits, squid, when he
boated a colorful fish he did not recognize. Rookie
has been fishing the Gulf of Mexico waters for more than 30 years.
In all of that time spent fishing and hundreds of trips Rookie had never seen a Longtail Bass
caught so far north in the Gulf.
