Baldwin County Bicentennial's Trailing Baldwin County History
Bay Minette, AL, April 23, 2009 – The Baldwin County Commission Department of Archives
and History in conjunction with the Stockton Civic Club will host the Baldwin County Bicentennial
Trailing Baldwin County History event on Saturday, April 25, 2009, 10am–4pm.
The event takes place at the Baldwin County Bicentennial Park on Hwy 225 – 2 miles south of Stockton, and will begin at 10am with a dedication ceremony naming the Bicentennial Park Nature
Trail in honor of Mrs. Davida Hastie. Mrs. Hastie spent her life working to preserve the history and
beauty of Baldwin County for future generations.
Baldwin County Archives Facility
The event will proceed with a number of exhibits and demonstrations that illuminate Baldwin
County’s history and cultural diversity over the past 200 years. These include:
an African American Share Cropper Experience,
Creek Indian Display, Early School Experience,
War of 1812 Display,
Traveling in Baldwin County Circa 1809,
World War II in Baldwin County,
Fort Morgan Display,
Baldwin County Heritage Museum Display,
City of Foley – Miss Foley Display,
Gulf Shores Display featuring Gulf Shores Museum,
Fort Mims Display,
Baldwin County Ghost Stories,
Quilting,
Sauerkraut Making and
Butter Churn demonstrations.
The event will conclude at 4pm and participants are encouraged to attend the
Stockton Civic
Club’s Wild Game Cook-Off at the Stockton Old School Park (1 mile north of downtown Stockton
on Hwy 59).
